Headache Pain Relief
Headaches are some of the most common ailments we have. Headaches can have many and sometimes complex causes, and by differentiating between the different types of headaches, these can be treated. Many patients seek the chiropractor to find the cause of the pain and find the right headache pain relief treatment.
The most common headaches are neck headaches, tension headaches, migraines and headaches caused by medication.
A thorough investigation is required to make the correct diagnosis. An important factor in the headache/ migraine complexes is the assessment and examination of functional defects in the neck region using orthopedic and neurological tests.
Headaches originating from the neck are also called cervicogenic headaches. The pain usually sits in the back of the head, on one side or both sides of the head and can radiate to the forehead and the eye. This type of headache is often triggered by unilateral use of the neck, such as when sitting with the head in a twisted position over time or sleeping on the stomach/chest with a twist of the head and neck. Neck headaches can be treated effectively with manual techniques that the chiropractor can use to provide effective headache pain relief, but it is also important to strengthen and stretch the neck in addition to treatment to avoid re-occurence
Migrane Pain Relief
Migraine clearly distinguishes from other types of headaches and can be divided into classical and common migraines. It’s important not to forget that migraine patients can also have other types of headaches besides migraines. There are still many unanswered questions regarding migraines, there is, however, enough knowledge to say that migraines are due to a combination of hereditary conditions, a number of internal factors in the body and external factors in the environment. Chiropractic treatment has been shown to have a good effect on migraine pain relief. A closer cooperation between GP and neurologist may also be necessary.
Dizziness
Dizziness is a health condition and a symptom that the body’s balance system does not work properly. The balance system consists of several centers in the brain that receive and process sensory information from vision, balance organs in the inner ear and movement device, especially in the neck. The balance system depends entirely on the correct information from the muscles and joints at the top of the neck. Restricted joints and muscle tension in the upper part of the neck are common causes of dizziness.
Other causes include internal ear disease, Benign Paroxsymal Positional Vertigo, viral infection or Meniér’s disease.
In order to be able to treat dizziness most effectively, it is important for a survey to enable diagnosis of the problem. Chiropractors have long education and competence to distinguish between the diagnoses and treat the problems. Chiropractors are particularly well-suited to treat dizziness as the common cause relates to muscle and joints in the neck region.
If your dizziness is accompanied by symptoms such as hearing loss, severe ear sores, visual disturbances, fever, severe headaches, palpitation, chest pain or difficulty breathing, it is necessary to exclude underlying conditions. You will then be referred to a doctor or ear, nose and throat specialist.
